Put clean air on your Santa list this Christmas...
CWAC councilors are writing a letter to object to the incinerator expansion proposal.
Their objection will be a lot stronger if they have comments from local people.
Residents comments/emails received by CWAC will be presented to the Government.

What can I write?
If you previously emailed BEIS with your objections you could use this email for CWAC too.
Or use these questions to help you write an email:
- Where do you live? (so the planning department see where concerned residents are)
- Why are you worried about the expansion plans and increased pollution from the Lostock incinerator?
- Are you concerned about its impact on your children?
- How do you feel about a daily increase in HGV movements from 262 to 434 along Griffiths Road / Kings Street (that's a lorry every 2 minutes).
Useful information to help you:
- Air pollution levels are already high in this area and are predicted to increase with more lorries.
- Research now links air pollution to increased mental health problems, especially in children. Small increases in pollution have a significant impact.
- HGV's will be coming and going for longer each day , from 7am to 11pm (deliveries were going to stop at 7pm)
- There is only one access road, which is dangerously narrow. There is a blind corner near the plant entrance and residential turnings. We would like to see more cycling and walking for residents, but HGV traffic could make this impossible.
- MPs are asking the Government to halt ALL incinerator construction as nanoparticles in the smoke are being proven to cause ill health.
- Incineration adds to landfill as the toxic fly ash has to be taken away and buried.
- The location is an example of social injustice: Rudheath is recognised as being in the 10% most deprived areas in the UK. The Government has permitted x3 as many incinerators to be built in deprived areas as in wealthier areas.
- Some incinerators run out of waste and start burning recycling instead!
- At COP26 world leaders recognised the need to cut CO2 by 50% by 2030. Incinerators CREATE huge amounts of new CO2.
